Workshops and classes in new education and research center, 2010

September 20 - 24 Southeastern Bandolier Bags Workshop by Damian Jay McGirt (Creek-Seminole). 9am-4pm daily.  This intensive two-week workshop is only for those who are seriously interested in learning to recreate this southeastern art form that emerged in the early 1800s.  Fee: $200 plus materials.  Members: $150 plus materials,  EBCI: $100 plus materials.  Class size limited.

September 16 - 17 Southeast Indian Writers Gathering 

The first Southeast Indian Writers Gathering  will bring together writers from the original Southeastern tribes to share and discuss their work. This new event is sponsored by Western Carolina University and the Museum of the Cherokee Indian through the coordination of Robert Conley (Cherokee Nation) who is Distinguished Sequoyah Professor at WCU. Confirmed participants include: Chris Teuton, Sean Teuton, Kim Roppolo, Geary Hobson, Holly McClure, Daniel Heath Justice, Robert Conley.
